FAST-NU Admission Test 2027

FAST
Conducted byNational University of Computer & Emerging Sciences (FAST-NUCES)

NU Admission Test (FAST) — the admission test for BS Computer Science, Software Engineering, AI, Data Science, Cyber Security and BS Engineering at FAST campuses (Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Chiniot-Faisalabad, Multan).

Purpose of the test

What FAST-NU Admission Test is for

FAST-NUCES runs its own computer-based NU Admission Test for undergraduate admissions at all of its campuses. For computing and engineering programmes the test is dominated by Mathematics, with an analytical reasoning section that most other engineering tests do not have.

The test carries about half of FAST merit; the rest comes from your SSC and HSSC marks. FAST also accepts NTS NAT and SAT scores for some programmes — you choose your test route when you apply.

Accepted for

  • BS CS, SE, AI, DS, Cyber Security
  • BS Electrical & Computer Engineering
  • All FAST campuses nationwide

FAST is the most mathematical test in this group and the only one here with negative marking. Advanced Mathematics is FSc calculus and algebra at speed, Basic Mathematics is matric-level arithmetic and algebra done mentally, and the analytical section is IQ-style pattern and logic work. Because each section is timed separately, you cannot borrow time from one to another.

Scoring higher

Skills that lift your FAST NU Test score

SKILL 01

Mental arithmetic

No calculator and separate timing make fast, clean arithmetic the single most useful skill.

SKILL 02

Guess only with a reason

With negative marking, answer when you can eliminate at least two options; otherwise skip.

SKILL 03

IQ patterns

Series, analogies and arrangements follow a small set of rules. Thirty minutes a day for three weeks is enough to learn them.

SKILL 04

Calculus at speed

Advanced Maths is half the test: derivatives, integrals and limits without long working.

SKILL 05

Section discipline

Each section has its own clock. Practise sectional timers, not one long timer.

SKILL 06

Short English

Only 10%: keep it ticking over with vocabulary and error spotting.

Learning curve

The dashed line is the target curve for an hour a day. Your own diagnostic, sectional and mock scores on this device plot on top of it, so you can see whether you are ahead or behind.

Work through the stages in order. Each mock uses its own questions, so a score from mock 3 is a fresh measurement, not a memory test.
